Cameo Singers was formed as the Wokingham Madrigal Singers in
1951. The choir met originally in people's homes, and concentrated on singing Madrigals as
the name suggests. Cameo Singers continues this tradition, but has broadened its
repertoire to include sacred works, spirituals, folk song arrangements and "fun"
pieces.
The Cameo Singers performs up to 6 concerts each season in venues from the West of Reading
to Sunningdale, usually as an invited choir for charity concerts, often with other groups.
"The Cameo Singers are Wokingham's own
madrigal group. Their style is quite unforced, they simply sing, letting the music speak
for itself, the result is beautiful."
